Accessible Information and Disabled Access

If you have a disability, impairment or sensory loss we would like to make your visit or contact with us as easy as possible therefore we would like to inform you of the following:

  • There is a wheelchair / zimmer ramp to access the main entrance of the surgery.
  • There is access to a lowered bell at the front door for assistance if required.
  • There is access to a disabled toilet at ground floor level.
  • There is access to a consulting room at ground floor level.
  • We will pre-book Interpreters or other communication professionals when indicated.
  • There is a large font practice leaflet available on request.
  • There is a large font new patient questionnaire available on request when registering.
  • There is a large font complaints procedure on request.
  • There is a hearing loop system in the main waiting area.
  • We will ensure the signage is clear and non-obstructive.
  • Allow guide or other assistance dogs into the premises.
  • Provide a range of chairs with arms and without arms to assist elderly or disabled patients in standing or sitting.
  • Offer a quieter more private area for patients who request this, for those who may have communication, reading, or writing difficulties.
  • Allow disabled patients to contact us about booking an appointment etc. by online booking, telephone, in person, email or by letter. The practice will respond to these requests using the method most appropriate to the needs of the patient. (Such as phone, email, SMS text or letter).
  • For patients who cannot hear who do not have a telephone relay service, they can use the online booking link above or for general enquiries and book app they can use bhccg.prescription.requests@nhs.net to contact us.
